Johnathon Caldwell is the Vice President and General Manager of Strategic & Missile Defense (SMD) Systems at Lockheed Martin Space. SMD missions include strategic deterrence, missile defense, directed energy and hypersonic strike, for the U.S. Department of Defense and U.K. Ministry of Defence.
Previously, Johnathon served as the Vice President and Deputy General Manager of the National Security Space (NSS) Line of Business and as the Vice President and General Manager of the Military Space Line of Business, delivering integrated end-to-end solutions, high-performance systems, critical space architectures and innovative concepts to help US and Allied customers successfully execute defense and intelligence missions.
With nearly 30 years in industry, Johnathon has held progressive leadership and technical roles within Lockheed Martin, including leading the digital modernization and sustainment of Lockheed Martin Space, leading the company’s Positioning, Navigation and Timing business portfolio, and serving as Chief Engineer for the GPS III Programs. He has held diverse roles in Program Management, Engineering, and Supply Chain, across missions ranging from space and ground systems for missile warning, to commercial and military communications and data transport, to commercial imaging systems.
Johnathon serves on the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Board of Trustees, and is an AIAA Associate Fellow. He sits on the University of Colorado Boulder, Engineering Advisory Council and serves as their LM Executive Champion.
Johnathon holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado. He is a graduate of Lockheed Martin’s Leadership Excellence & Development Program, Program Management Development Program and Executive Development & Growth Enhancement Program, and is a two-time recipient of the Lockheed Martin Corporate NOVA Award. He lives in the Denver Metro Area with his wife and three children.
